Types of Retro Candy

If you visit your local candy store, you are likely to notice many types of retro candy. Which ones are worth sampling? Probably all of them. This guide will give you an overview of the candies you will most likely encounter.
Old fashioned gum
There are many types of old fashioned gum that are still around today. Chiclets were one of the original types of gum and come in a box. Most candy stores will carry both mint and mixed flavors. Clove gum is a brand of gum that is flavored with real cloves and was popular in the 1950's. You may also want to try Freshen Up. This gum has a flavor-filled center and offers a very unique mouth experience. For a slightly more modern adventure, try Fruit Stripe Gum. This brand was common in the 1980's and 1990's and has temporary tattoos on the wrappers.
Other candies
Besides gum, there are a host of other candies to be found. Horehound drops and barber pole candy sticks have been around for centuries. Licorice wheels and licorice all sorts are also still easy to find. For a unique experience, try some Razzles. This candy fizzes and then turns into gum in your mouth. Lemonheads and Boston Baked Beans are other traditional candies that never get old.
Exploring your local candy store can be an adventure in and of itself. Check out some of these old fashioned candies the next time you are out. Your mouth will say thank you.
